Mediterranean Stone Pines by Ashley Raddon

Superb trees , I do like these quick practice paintings they always seem uncomplicated and loose .

That is very well painted - love the contrast between the trees and the sky!

Thank you guys, yes I try not to ever think of a painting as a 'this is it' painting as often they never work for me. I see often lots of what I call nice but safe paintings but my approach doesn't suit that style plus I like to be expressive and experimental. As Jem Bowden used to say to me 'Ash you gotta take a risk ' as a good painting could be a great painting but you roll the dice 😊 and after all it's only a bit of paper so I can always start again

Nicely done indeed

I always think, if in doubt what to paint, do a tree! Great piece.

Thank you, I agree Andrew. Trees have seen it all as we come and go

I really like it. When I paint, sometimes it has to grow on me before I like it or think it’s finished.

Hi Cairistiona, yes mine is often like that. I hide it for a long time or it gets ripped up and I use the reverse for test paper.

Superb and the sky is a beautiful blue. This picture really stands out.

Simple and satisfying.

Thank you guys, yes great fun trying 😊 have a creative week everyone.

I often paint upside down too and this is a wonderful result Ashley, great trees

Thank you Heather, it's so much fun concentrating on shapes, values, brush strokes and tones. Have a great week 😊

Excellent work!

Thank you Romila 😁

Thank you Ravindra:)

Great - i like it very much!

Love this expressive style of painting. Even more difficult to achieve in watercolour!

Very true Janet, a lifetime of learning. People often say how they love how simple it is ...if only simple was simple. Making it look simple is the art....Seago was a master of minimal brush strokes to say so much but where and how to place them 😊

Thank you Maureen ☺️

A quick studio practice. Back to painting trees which I love but wanted to treat the painting as connected shapes painting it upside down. Great fun and for a change I actually like what I've painted. Winsor and Newton on Bockingford paper.
