Thank you so much Diana, yes, it's a favourite which I painted last year and it sold so quickly I didn't have time to live with it for a while to enjoy it! I was very lucky to be visited by this robin, who sat long enough for me to include his/her portrait here. Happy painting to you Diana :- )

Thank you Denise, very kind of you to comment. I did love painting this, it was one of those paintings which just seemed to flow. I have always liked these old post boxes - I wanted to paint a nostalgic piece at the end of last year when for so many reasons we couldn’t be with loved ones as we hoped, and my encounter with a friendly robin came at just the right time to be included as a first hand reference. I added the snow digitally to the image this Christmas and used it as my Christmas card.

Wishing everyone at POL a truly fabulous, healthy, safe & happy Christmas :- ) With grateful thanks for all the wonderful support you have given me throughout 2021. Andrea :- ) 'To Absent Friends' is painted in oils on canvas board. I used my own photo of the robin as reference - it landed very close to me when I was out on a rather chilly solo walk and was just wishing I had some company. (Snow fall added digitally.)
