A Little Flour

A novel idea well executed.

Hahaha. We have a health shop that has flour etc, but I broke the dough hook .... 3 week delivery. There is plenty of bread now, but I got back into baking. Must feed my starter dough.

Very apt indeed Andrea, and a very nice painting of it too.

Thank you so much for this Tessa :- ) I haven’t painted still lifes for quite a while, but when you have a captive audience / food cupboard full of subjects, it seemed like a good idea to start a very mini series on ‘Saying it with Flours’ :- )

Thank you so much Ian (I would just like to say ‘other supermarkets are available’!) :- )

Argh! How frustrating Gudrun! We were lucky to already have this bag of flour. We have only managed to get one bag since - which we traded with a neighbour (contact free) in return for three quarters of a spoon of yeast. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for the dough mix and our attempt at bread came out as sundried tomato and herb cake! Very dense and moist :- ( I am happy to leave it to the professionals now! Please paint your bread and post a picture! It would be great to start a series on ‘our daily bread’! Do you have your dough hook yet?

Thank you so much Liezel for your lovely comment :- ) I think I was very fortunate that the bag was so decorative and such a great colour - it made it so appealing and interesting to paint.

Good idea and really well painted

Great subject, love this!

An absolutely super, original idea Andrea. You have painted this mundane object with such clever, acute observation that it has become quite animated. We’re all in the same boat. Have just made some bread this morning using ordinary, plain flour but don’t know how it will turn out.

Thank you so much Heather, very kind of you :- )

Thank you Tanusree :- ) the biggest challenge is finding some flour to paint!

Carole, thank you so much for your lovely comment :- ) I’d love to know how your bread turned out in the end - using that plain flour? Was it a triumph or more of a flatbread??

That's the closest I've been to a bag of flour in seven weeks. Excellently portrayed Andrea, thanks for the memory.

Very intriguing picture!

Thanks Brian - I loved your comment, it made me laugh AND made my day too!

Thank you so much Lea :-) very kind of you to post this comment!

Not my usual type of Spring flower - but it seems apt for Spring 2020. A little painting inspired by the contents of my kitchen cupboard. Postcard sized: 5 x 7 inches. Oil on gessobord.
