Simplicity at it’s best, so much to see in a simple sketch ,the mind takes over where you left off Alan .

Taking on board your remark about cross-hatching (on the forum): because I do use it now and then, but agree simple hatching is better. I think we tend to overwork drawings for many reasons - partly to hide defects, or indicate texture; or just to fill in space rather than leave a glaring patch of white paper. I find it hard to achieve solidity in "simple" line drawing, but you've got that here through the use of strong darks: very satisfying ensemble!

A fine drawing, not least in it's simplicity!

Super sketch Alan.

Confident and skilful, everything needed is there.

Another very satisfying drawing Alan.

A complex subject like this needs refining and it is not simple to do. You've expressed the essence of the subject beautifully here Alan.

So much achieved with so little Alan

Anything but simple, well done Alan.

Your style of painting and drawing really stands out and I really enjoy reading your explanations of how you approach your work.

Never thought your sketches were overworked Alan, nice sketch regardless of you being reined in.

It’s good but I miss the little bits of colour Alan.

I like the simplicity of the sketch too.

I’m with John, like to see your subtle touch of colour in your ink work.

Looks just right to me.👏

Thanks guys… it’s a mono drawing pure and simple! Not everything needs colour…

Just wonderful!! Simple but to the point!👌🙏👍

Oh yes it does! 😉

A really simplified line drawing today, I’ve been in danger of overworking some of my recent drawings… I’ll try and reign myself in!
