I was just thinking it had touch of Hilder in this. He was a great draughtsman wasn't he. The foreground shadow works so well.

Great drama and zing and tonal contrast.

nice painting I can definitely see the Rowland hilder here gorgeous Alan.

Love the bold darks in this one Alan.

You know I love old buildings Alan - lovely sketch.

Nice work, Alan, your inks and aqua pencils work very well, you master all techniques.

I love the bold dark too Alan. Is it on coloured paper? The sky is so clear and beautiful.

Thanks to you all for your comments, appreciated. Satu, yes, it is on tinted mountboard (textured), basically for these small sketches it eliminates the need to start adding dramatic skies.

Just to add, I have an article going into September's edition of 'The Artist', demonstrating the use of tinted paper when out and about sketching, you may find it interesting.

Another brilliant addition to your series of FIFTY Alan!

You certainly have a variation of style Alan. Like the boldness and colours in this, though that tree looks a tad central.

nicely done Alan I have been thinking of joining Artline and noticed you are showing on their . any advice would be very helpful please does it work for you many thanks David

Hi Alan many thanks for your reply 40% is a bit steep isn't it and I take into account what you said about actually getting paid you've been very helpful perhaps I will look at an alternative kind regards David

Super duper. I know that is really unimaginative, but it is!

Acrylic inks and aqua pencils 9 x 6in. Based on a Hilder sketch, couldn't resist having a go at these lovely old barns in this idylic setting.
