Amazing Alan super control what a view creation of distance and movement which invites your eye to wander and enjoy plus lovely boats. In one hour. ..

Absolutely fantastic Alan! Super colours and what a movement!

Alan, superb piece of work. The light and brush strokes! Not to mention the composition...

ALAN 60 minutes of pure inspiration!

Thank you Dennis , Satu, Roland and George, all appreciated, Helen, I used a Winton Long Flat Hog, I don't like the short hair brushes, I like some flexing, in sizes 20, 8 and 4 plus a small no.1 hog for some minor detail on the beached boats, masts etc.

Wow amazing Alan :)

Sixty minutes???? Is this another challenge, if yes, I'll pass!lol It's full of that incredible light that you always managed to capture in your work Alan. I love it!

What a wonderful variety of blues you've achieved Alan. Fantastic!

Quick but impetuous. A cascade of light and colour, Alan!

Blue paint does wonders, or is it the painter who does it ;-)

Nice painting Alan those vigorous brush strokes give this work life its great Alan .

Lots of lovely movement and I like your blues Alan.

They say when you are feeling blue you are down, well Alan I would say the reverse here, I love the energy and movement in this painting there is just a constant flow of it from top to bottom, great stuff.

I just love this Alan with those lovely sweeping brushstrokes and all the beautiful variety of blues! A stunning painting!

Strong stuff, bursting with energy. Sixty minute study - don't know if I could do that on this scale, but I'm very tempted to try, in order to loosen up my approach a bit; I've got an 8" by 10" oil, which took around that time, which I've just done - but I can't get a good photograph of it yet, the cadmium colours are still wet and reflecting too much light. To do that on this scale .... hmmm.....

Thank you everyone for your comments, and Robert, It's easier than you may think, you just go at it with some large brushes, and a 'gung ho' attitude.

I do these 60 minute paintings on a regular basis solely for the purpose of trying to loosen up, as you have said. This was a completely made up seascape with just reference to the castle outline. This photo is horrid, the colours are not like this, not as blue. Give it a go, it's a great challenge to set yourself.

Vivid, full of dramatic tension, with an excellent composition. A fabulous, fabulous piece, Alan!
