I think this would make a very interesting WIP article Alan. Super tones in the central cliffs and castle, and the little figures on their precarious looking walk! Your use of colour is fascinating. Thought I’d better comment before it disappears....

A very interesting use of colour. Splendid.

A difficult subject expertly rendered Alan. I think all the practice you have had with your high elevation harbour must have helped. I did a similar action of taking photos of my recent oil painting as I was asked to do WIP and was so busy I couldn’t fit it in and want to be prepared.

You have tackled this complex subject expertly. Love the colours in the cliffs but especially to the middle and lower left of the painting. Lovely Alan.

I feel as if I am there Alan, ( I should be so lucky 😀) your colours are amazing, and I like the positioning of those people .

Simply gorgeous, superb all round, Alan, and yes, Tessa, I totally agree and would look forward to reading it!

Fascinating painting yes I would love to see your WIP Alan, beautiful colours and composition.

Superb Alan, depth, distance, colour drama and 'detail', it has everything. I am always so impressed with your work.

Once more you’ve produced a beautiful painting with those gorgeous colours. A great WIP article.

Beautiful, Alan. Excellent composition and I love the colours.

The view must be spectacular Alan if this lovely piece is anything to go by.

Love the sense of place Alan....I feel right dizzy.

Great colours and unusual style but quite intriguing, Alan

Co!ours are very good and good execution of a difficult subject.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and comments, all greatly appreciated.

Wow Alan sublime so sophisticated what a cracker they all are but sometimes I can't help myself

Strong composition and I always look forward to seeing your use of colour.

Another beauty Alan.

I do love this view point you are painting lately and the freedom of paint. I can see where you are going and it’s great.

I’ve always wanted to have a look around this ancient and historic castle. The last time that I arrived at the airport, I stopped off and spent a few hours on an interesting tour guide. (there is a lift up to it!). The fortress sits high on a rock face, and what a view it commands overlooking the city! Not easy to indicate all those buildings without going into detail – perish the thought! Studio painting completed in around three x 45 minute sessions, leaving each stage to dry a bit. From my photographs and sketches and as always, my own take on the subject. Oil on board 40 x 50cm. I have taken pics at various stages for a possible future WIP feature.
