What a fantastic place to live, Alan. Beautiful scenery and such great colours. It is very atmospheric. Wish I was there (in the warmth of your studio with that fantastic view!)

Love to see trees painted like this, so much more interesting than summer ones, the tree on the left you can tell is old and gnarled, a great winter scene, lovely work Alan 😀

Another cracker, Alan. I agree with Linda about winter trees, as lovely as they look in leaf, in winter they are more interesting...and you do them so well.

Fan-flippin-tastic Alan! Wonderful characterful trees and scenery.

Superb composition and great colour palette.

Lovely palette of cool colours, Alan. Works well :)

Like your muted palette Alan. Such a naturfal looking scene and I love the markings in the snow.

Like the soft colours, Alan - and love the sharper detail of the tree on the left, it's a super contrast to the rest of the painting.

I really like this Alan, it's a beauty! The tree near left of the painting is wonderful and I love your colours. Nice area where you are, I'm out in the countryside too and I love the peace and quiet.

Fabulous painting Alan, and as has already been said, the tree on the left is wonderful.

Very nice Alan. You've really caught the quiet feel of the place and that coldness of the snowy weather. I like the yellow tinge of the snow laden sky and yes, that tree (left side) is so well painted. No heron though and the frog has obviously hopped it..lol

Another beautiful painting, Alan.

Splendid painting Alan

Love the tree with ivy on the left, the whole painting is interesting to look at, love it, Alan .

Thanks for taking the time to comment, it is appreciated.

Love the colours and marks Alan.

Oil on Talens canvas board 40 x 50cm. This is a scene from my lane, which is a no-through-road, so quiet with plenty of sketching opportunities, especially with the River Trent running adjacent to the lane just a field away. Basic compositional stuff but the little barn did help add a touch of interest and focal point; and I love those ivy-covered oak trees which line the route – one of my favourite trees to paint in winter. Not competition material, but I will paint another similar scene from further up the lane and drop them into my local gallery to make a pair. All worked up from scribbles in a sketch book done at the scene, only painted from the warmth of my studio!
