Such good colour Alan. Another beauty!

Attaboy Alan, great boat scene in your distinctive style. Lovely work.

You've chosen well Alan with your beautiful scene, everything about it is so well painted, the colours, the light, the boat's it's all there and I could live with it on my wall anyday😀

Lovely use of warm and cool colours, Alan :)

Yes, we like it Alan, good to read a bit of info too.

The more I look the more I see in this piece Alan. It’s more about the marks and that draws me in.

Beautiful range gorgeous image Alan

A very warm, calm, and restful painting - I particularly like the way you've painted the sky: those clouds have just the right degree of transparency against the strong blue: you can see 'em moving!

Your characteristic style is immediately recognisable Alan, the sky especially is truly wonderful and I agree with Robert, the clouds do appear to be scudding across the sky, quite an achievement even for you!

A masterly painting Alan. Everything carefully observed, aerial perspective and scale. The pallet works so well.

Just brilliant, Alan. Love it!

Another good one Alan. Doesn't look much like you are struggling for inspiration. The colours in the sky are superb.

Gorgeous colours Alan and very well balanced in every way.

It gives the impression of a very windy but sunny day Alan, just like it's been here today! As always a stunning painting with wonderful colours.

Saw this on the front page, Alan, and immediately thought of you. Great style with plenty of mood, especially in that wondrous sky. I also think the subtle reflections and bold colours are top drawer. Lovely work. Bri

Just love it Alan. The barges are really interesting, and wonderful light in the sky and foreground.

Like the colour and the effect, Alan

Gosh, thanks so much everyone, such high praise, I'm glad you all liked it. All a bit embarrassing really, it didn't take very long to complete, but the long laboured drawn-out stuff doesn't always work out as we know.

Wow Alan those colours are like sumptuous velvet running through the sky and water. Magnificent.

How lovely Alan! The sky colours are wonderful, in fact I like it all!

Gorgeous colours and lovely gestural brush stokes - I love it.

I knew this was one of yours Alan, beautiful use of complimentary colours. Hope to have a look at the 'online' piece on painting snow.

Oil on board, 40 x 50cm. Loosely based on my favourite Spritsail barges, they are just so interesting visually. Made up scene and painted with a fair degree of freedom as you can see, and without reference. I’ve based it around Pin Mill with the beached barges waiting on the early morning tide. These huge vessels are always a good stand-by when I’m struggling for inspiration. I hope that you like my representation of a very simple scene.
