Like this very much.

Great seas and skies at Abersoch - haven't been there in nearly 50 years: this format lends itself to your approach, but then - what format doesn't? Gorgeous use of colour.

Lovely work as ever, thirty minutes or no, Alan. Amazing work.

Good use of a half hour Alan, no time to over complicate, works well.

Wonderful painting, great talent Alan. 30 mins it is magic!

A lovely sketch, in a short time as well, I would find that very difficult.

Yes Alan nice and unfussy makes this a nice painting, you said yourself simplicity is the key , excellent.

Thanks for all the comments, not expecting a call from the RA but this sort of work does serve a purpose. As those of you who paint outdoors will know, invariably a small crowd will gather and usually at a bad stage when it looks as though a 5-year-old has been let loose, one little child shouted out, 'hey mister, the sky should be blue'... 'all in good time sunny Jim' came my response.

Yes lovely Alan and you did put a bit of blue in for the young pest

Marvellous piece of non-fuss art again Alan. Your colour sense is incredible!

Really good. I love this.

I absolutely love that sky and ,yes, far nicer than a photograph

Beautiful painting - such a distinctive style . Looking forward to your WIP feature .

Another example of your brilliance Al! Look forward to your feature, I'm sure it will be most enlightening, as are all your articles.

Glad you had a rewarding time painting this lovely scene Alan. I like the sweep and colours of the beach area. It looks a great place to visit.

Just read about the 5-year-old's comment. That's so typical when I work outdoors and yes they always approach you when it isn't at the best stage, then you finish it and it's looking quite good and nobody is about. The story of my life! The other day a young boy offered me his £1 ice cream money for one of my sketches. I knew one day someone would offer money for my work! The parents had a good laugh. (probably at my sketch)

Beautiful piece of work Alan and it's amazing what one can achieve working to a time limit

Oil on board 10 x 25in. One of around a dozen quick 30-minute oil sketches painted a few weekends ago on a weekend trip to Abersoch. Ideal as working material for a finished piece and so much more enjoyable than taking a photo. I will be writing a WIP feature in the September e-newsletter which I am calling 30-minute oil sketching, painted at Abersoch, it will be basic stuff but a few of you may find it interesting and useful.
