Like it Alan, nicely done.

Very nice, romantic take on this well known scene, I like the warmth that you have injected into it.

The colours are beautiful Alan, love your impression.

Top class Alan. Caught my eye right off. Splendid effect, real impressionist painting.

Superb Alan as Arnold says it's all about shapes and light and both are beautiful

Superbly composed and painted, Alan -love the light.

Beautiful light Alan, one of the best impressions of this iconic view I've seen.

I like your version very much. Nice atmosphere.

Very nice indeed Alan, it has a lovely light and those warm colours are lovely.

Alan, you're producing one superlative piece after another. It's such a treat to see your works again! This is stunning - beautiful palette, wonderful light and sparkle and the requisite balance of contrast between the dark and light passages. Superb work.

Absolutely fantastic Venice, Alan, wonderful warm colours and sparkling light in water.

I have never been to Venice, Alan, but your painting certainly makes me want to. Love the warmth of it.

Like Stephen has mentioned, the warmth is great. Lovely work, full of energy.

Love the rich warm colours, Alan, and the impressionistic treatment of the water.

Love the sparkle on the water, another little gem Alan.

I just love the light on the left of the painting. And of course the reds. Love it, Alan.

Lovely sparkle on the water, and that hot red of yours in the buildings, balanced cleverly by the two uprights on the left foreground. I've never been to Venice, and am unlikely to get there now, but this has more of a sense of place to me than a photographic representation would have. There is some affinity with Arnold Lowrey's watercolours - I've seen a painting of Venice of his, and it has a similar quality of light and colour without fussing over detail.

Delightful painting. - mysterious light!

Venice seems to look great in any light. When I first went there in 1957 I thought I had stepped straight into a Cannaletto painting. The light you have created here is amazing. Superb !

Lovely work, super light

Well what can I say apart from thank you to all who commented, I never expected a response like this, many sincere thanks.

Only just caught this, love it, rather different from the usual paintings to Venice.

I like your take on this classic scene Alan, has a lovely glow and warmth.

Oil on board 10 x 20in. One of my favourite cities which I have visited on many ocassions. This of course in one of the most recognised landscapes in Europe and has been painted by artist's over the centuries. I have attempted to cut through the detail and concentrate on the general colours and lighting.
