Trent & Mersey Canal at Stone.

Trent & Mersey Canal at Stone.

Another confident sketch Alan and it's super. Love the colours and bold way you have of applying those darks!

Love the darker shadowing on this Alan.....very atmospheric and very indicative of the time of year!!

I think a barge would have been distracting. The orange glow draws the eye in, but it is nicely balance by the browns at either side of the picture and the warm shadows in front of the houses.

This is very dynamic, and beautiful clarity. Those darks create such energy. Lovely sketch, Alan.

Love the different tones in this one Alan, lovely painting.

As has already been mentioned that orange really draws the eye and gives the painting a lovely autumnal glow.

A lovely sketch Alan, think I agree a barge would have been distracting.

Great colours and tones in this Alan, very nice indeed.

Absolutely fantastic. Love the use of the orange and blue behind the building.

It's lovely work Alan and there's never a barge about when you want one 😊 Thank you for the comment on my latest and you're right not to be influenced by what paints others use i'm delighted to have my eyes open to paynes grey and it's potential

Sensational work Alan!!

So many great features to this, shapes, lines, tones, colours inspiring.

Another fine and persuasive ( for me) piece Alan

Hang on Studio Wall

Small plein air sketch done yesterday 10 x 8in. along with a larger oil sketch which will require a second visit to complete, hopefully today weather permitting. There wasn't a barge in sight unfortunately.
