Loose almost abstract feel to this one Alan, must look good full size.

Lovely movement Alan, the strokes leading the eye to the sailing boats on the horizon.

It's very good Alan. The style is great.

Love this Alan that sky is to die for , beautiful.

Love the way the eye is led to the yachts Alan

Cleverly done, leading you right into scene. Loose with great colour choice as usual.

I want to have done this........

I can't believe you completed a couple of these in one day! It really has the feel of an estuary. Superb Alan.

Amazing work with beautiful colours and strong brush strokes, as usual Alan. Your skies are always superb.

You make me feel inadequate Alan. It's taken me the entire day to just put my drawing on the board. Lots of energy here. Beautiful textures.

Well, what lovely comments, thank you all, these are such rapid sketches I hardly deserve any credit, they just paint themselves almost. Helen, best of luck, go for it, I used a 1in brush for all of this apart from the yachts, total time taken was around 20 mins or so, any longer and I start adding detail which is not what this work is about.

Such inspiring art Alan! I can see lots of 'Bickley's' appearing on POL....love the flash of white sails in the distance.

So free and expressive Alan, I really like the brush strokes in the estuary mud bringing it alive because that's what it is, the mud flats are alive also like Fiona said, the flask of white sails is a nice touch, nice one.

Semi abstract at its best Alan. Wonderful sky.

Oil on board 50 x 40cm, one of a couple of oils that I did yesterday, trying to get back into some painting after a brief rest.
