It's hard to switch back and forth between images, but I do think this looks more.... finished? Ready for the gallery, ready for sale! It has a wonderful warmth, and superb sense of movement in the sea.

Agree with Robert!

Definitely more depth of colour. I love the orange and blue combination.

Superb. Agree with other comments too.

Superb! Love the revamp!!

I can really see the difference, it is super.

Beautiful effects -wonderful painting.

Can definitely see a difference, this has a fresher, brighter look to it - love the orange/blue combination.

Well painted Alan.

Your glazing has mellowed it down Alan, it has an added depth and richness. Another beauty!

Agree with Robert it does feel more finished, although you have mellowed things down a bit to me the overall effect is to make the whole painting look more vibrant and alive.

I didn’t see the original, but I love that blue sea contrasted with the rooftops Alan. Would love to be there!

I did not see the original but this is terrific, a lovely summery feel!

Really interesting following the development of this painting Alan and your techniques- Really impressive.

I loved the original, but the glazing has given such depth! Love it even more!

Yes Alan I love that sea. Hoping you are well but you always are Alan

I mentioned in my previous posting that I was going to add some glazing. I’ve brushed on a thin glaze of Lefranc & Bourgeois Flemish Amber with a blue/green mix added to this, covering the whole painting apart from the sky. It’s mellowed everything down a touch which was the desired effect. Once dry, I picked out a few highlights using an off-white, keeping these to a minimum. The photo may not have picked up these subtle changes, but it’s a definite improvement. Oil on board 40 x 50cm
