Very Nice, the colours have captured the atmosphere of the buildings and landscape

lovely sunset colours and unusual view.

You have done this superb treasure great justice Alan. It remains an imposing view for miles around. The challenge is to create the building with fewer details, whilst retaining its majestic grandeur. You have achieved this result and I admire the overall harmony through implementing appropriate glazes.

Love the rich blues and greens you’ve used in this, Alan

Impressive sense of structure, achieved through what looks like quite thinly layered paint. And you're a lucky man to have seen this fabulous building for yourself - this conveys so much more than any photograph of it I've ever seen. (I have many sketchbooks too, the trouble is selecting what to paint from them..)

Good oil Alan, I very much like how you've painted the stonework

Excellent range of tones and colour.

Splendid, Alan and a demonstration of the fruits from a sketch book. Lovely warmth and architectural suggestion in the painting a pleasure to see.

It's a superb painting Alan.

Those sketches and scribbles are now showing brilliant results Alan.

Superb composition and wonderful tones Alan. You’ve really achieved a sense of size and of distance beyond.

A super painting Alan.

Another stunning impression Alan. What a source your sketchbook is.

Thanks guys, always appreciated!

Impressive painting of an impressive view, Alan, Love it!

I particularly like the way you have described the windows in shadow - light against the dark. The whole painting gives such a sense of place. It’s a great painting Alan.

Missed this one! Fabulous!

Makes me wish I was there Alan!

20 x 20in oil on MDF. I’ve returned to a valuable source of information, and inspiration – that’s my many sketch books of course. The numerous colour notes and scribbles that I made last year in Spain, provided me with enough information to paint this Spanish scene in my studio. A reminder perhaps, of the importance of keeping a sketch book! This will be featured in the e-newsletter shortly, showing my initial sketches, plus a 4-part WIP.
