Great realistic docks and harbour scene John with terrific reflection. Nice work.

Great composition and love your reflections John.

Love this, fantastic.

Thank you Jim, Chris and Denise, I really enjoyed painting this one from a sketch I made on the quayside on a very wet and windy day :)

A stunner and I like your way of seeing things. Fabulous treatment of reflections

Thanks so much Heather! Ugly is the new pretty ;)

Fabulous painting John 👌

Thank you so much Bari :)

Very nice John, a great dock scene and very nicely painted.

Many thanks for the kind comment Dixie Dean :)

Lovely work John and I like the muted colours

Fantastic work John! Love your treatment of the reflections in particular.

Many thanks Fiona and Frank, I'm very glad you like this one :)

It's a fine painting - I should ignore that criticism, "slight" or otherwise.

Stunning painting

Beautiful! I love the way you handled the reflections!

Catherine, Romila and Robert, can I thank you for your kind words of encouragement, they mean a lot to me :)

Fabulous painting John, love your brushwork and the contrasting palette.

Wow !!! lovely painting. Can feel volume!!!

Thank you Helen and thank you Bonny, alway so nice to hear such positive reactions :)

I love the colours in this - the unusual shape of this particular boat really catches the eye. It must have been a difficult subject and you have really done it justice.

Hi Bobbie, thank you so much for taking the time to comment. There are so many of these tough little ships around Stavanger, they always catch my eye but if I'm honest I wanted an excuse to paint with such bright and vibrant colours as well as enjoy the composition :)

Keep this style!

Regloh, I will try :)

So beautiful. I like the way you find beauty and interest in unusual subjects. Well done .

Thank you Elaine, I'm delighted that you like the painting :)

Often I get a slight criticism for showing things I find beautiful in Norway that aren't fjords, lakes, mountains or other items of natural beauty. I can only paint the things I see that say something to me otherwise we are just engaging in some naive chocolate box view of the world. The Viking Prince is a ship that brings supplies from Norway out to the oil platforms of the Norwegian sea. I rather liked the colours and shape, so now it's on a canvas 60 x 60 cm.
