Not so much light Lesley but I’m still waiting for autumn colours to appear here! I really like ALL the posts on this so far ( and the challenge itself) but am biding my time before having a go. Tessa
Your so right Tessa, those colours are not appearing here at the moment, that's probably why I can't get my colours rights, I'm am a visual painter I think, I might have another look in another week,  thankyou for putting my mind at rest, for a while anyway..
October forum challenge. This is from the dim and distant.  Hopefully I might find a min to do a new one.
That’s terrific Sylvia, makes autumn seem something beautiful! Great colours.
Beautiful Sylvia, wish my views were like that. Autumn hasn't set in in my garden as yet... Won't be long...
Vibrant, Sylvia, a lovely texture on the Birch trunks.
Hope this works, my first forum post. An inspiring challenge this month, who can resist the colours of autumn. Even here in Scotland the trees are only just starting to turn from green, especially the Birch. However, the amount of berries on the trees this year are incredible, the branches are laden with haws, hips and Rowan berries. I did this watercolour last week, the colour of the berries on this clump of trees stood out so much, irresistible. Some wonderful examples already of the diverse shades of this month. Glen Turk.
Lovely, Fiona. The painting certainly sums up the weather, at the moment, and the abundance of berries.
Not many trees here have got their autumnal coats on yet so have uploaded last years.
Some excellent efforts already! I’ve got a couple of oils on the go, using actual local scenes (as from my studio window) and using  my imagination and knowledge regarding the autumnal colours. Mind you, I rarely copy nature as it appears, so no issues on that front in my case.
Thank you Carol. I’m looking forward to the leaves catching up with the berries. Whilst I was out today I noticed a Horse Chestnut turning from green to gold.
I spend several days a week working as a volunteers ranger with the National Trust. I  and others have noticed over the past few years that our autumn seems to have slipped. We had a very short autumn last year where the trees seem to have gone from green to falling, without much colour change. I’m sure there will be great debate as to it been due to global warming or a natural slip in time. It’s the best time of year in my view to be out in the woods, but then all seasons have there particularly good bits. Just keep painting it for all to see and admire.
