Nice work, John :) That was interesting to read, Dixie, regarding the leaf change, perhaps its a regional thing. Last year, Autumnal colours were absolutely vibrant, here, as the summer was, almost as good, as the previous year. Due to this, Spring provided an amazing amount of bees and other insects. It was a joy to see theses insects change from species of flowers as the seasons changed, even now there are bees about making the most of the pernicious, but valuable source of pollen, the Himalayan Balsam. It was the variety of bees that was of interest, and even a winged insect I've never seen before. There's been a bumper crop of blackberries, Hazel Nuts, and more Painted Lady butterflies, and Red Admirals, than I've seen for many years.

Fiona your painting is  of lovely autuminal, colours, those berries usually mean we will have a hard winter, but as John says it's probably to do with global warming... I've had a problem with my paintings, just doesn't seem to be right, so I'm waiting and watching....maybe I will have to do the guessing...sorry that artistic licence...
These little lovelies are still about in all their glory. This is one I took a picture of - Speckled Wood

Lots of good work for this challenge...well done, everybody.
That’s wonderful Carol, so delicate, subtle and different subject wise. Really like it. I’m working on one which is also non landscape but it’s going to take a while!
Beautifully painted Carol, I spotted a couple of these in my garden this year. Not a common butterfly for here I’m afraid. It seems to have been a bumper year for all the other more common ones though, especially the same as most places this year, the painted lady. There are still one or two red admirals about but not today, it’s chucking it down!
Thank you, Tessa. I look forward to seeing your work. I don't think it has to be landscape to capture the glories of Autumn :) That’s wonderful Carol, so delicate, subtle and different subject wise. Really like it. I’m working on one which is also non landscape but it’s going to take a while!

Thank you, Fiona. Always a joy to see these little lovelies, good to know you too are a butterfly person, and know what you're looking at, important, I think, as they are in decline. I'll stop here as I do tend rabbit on about such things :) Beautifully painted Carol, I spotted a couple of these in my garden this year. Not a common butterfly for here I’m afraid. Rabbit on all you like Carol, about anything to do with natural history! I’m a lover and follower of all things wild, moths being one of my favourites, then there are the bumblebees,  (a new recording for me and my patch of a Tree bumblebee this year) bats, birds, etc. If it flies, creeps or crawls, it gets recorded, all data forms the bigger picture.  I just wish I could record it in paint as well as yourself, you do some wonderful studies.
A joy to read you have a data file, same here. I agree, it does form a bigger picture of the area of the world we live in at the present time. Looking back just four years I see a huge change, not only with the environment itself, but the creatures it supports. Nature does a marvellous job all by herself, however with the world we live in, today, a little careful management does help to preserve certain species that will otherwise disappear, be this related to, entomology or botany ect, Thank you for your wonderful comment, Fiona, but no doubt you CAN do the same.

A scruffy, sort of, Autumnal sketch of a past it’s sell by date pomegranate.
That's lovely Fiona, I haven't had a pomagranate  for years. Mmmmm, delicious autumn fruit...
