Missed yesterday such a lot of lovely sketches, I cant keep up either.  Paul your bluebells are really good. I’m lucky enough to have bluebells in my garden, a mixture of English and Spanish so come spring there will be no excuse not to draw them! Katy your Harley is wonderful.  I really love the portraits Ron, I have not heard of the Migrant Mother, will have to have a google later. Not a fan of collage either but like Tessa I noticed some of the work on the gallery and really liked them, its odd the way you get a fixed idea about a style and then get proved wrong!  Margaret your lovely soft watercolours are so understated but effective. Had a look on YouTube about blending oil pastels and there’s a lady on there that uses odourless mineral to lift the colour off of the pastel with a brush to paint.  Hope to have a chance to sketch later, off out now to do essential shopping.
Could not resist sketching our old pal slumbering by the fire.
That’s a lovely sketch Stephen.
I’m afraid I haven’t looked at the sketches on here for a few days, but gosh there’s some good stuff coming through. I eventually turned my sketch of the contorting girl taking a photo into a painting and doing this kept me busy. I posted it in the gallery a couple of days ago and seem to have run out of steam following the effort. Many thanks to all of you who posted comments on it.  As I say, since then, I’ve been scrambling about for subjects and motivation to draw or paint something and finally remembered that I wanted to improve my portraits this coming year. Combing through the photos I came across a picture of two of my grandsons and decided to give a sketch of them a go. I’m calling it the “Red Devils” as they both have ginger hair.

That’s brilliant Paul!
Beautiful portraits Paul and love your dog sketch Stephen.   I was struggling for a subject today so started raking through some very old photos.  Here is a sketch of my husband from a photo taken at an outdoors festival, probably nearly 30 years ago!  Watercolour sketch on cartridge paper.

That’s really good Margaret, hope he still plays!
Thank you Katy :)  I'm pleased to say he still does!
Stephen, I like your sketch of the dog. Paul you have done a lovely sketch of your grandsons, one to be proud of I'm sure. Margaret, I love that sketch you have done. Mine is a watercolour sketch I did for the January challenge, just a quick fun one.
Wow, some more great sketching and lovely subjects. I’m not going to go back over the page because we know what happens!  But Stephen I love your snoozing dog, seems to be a common sight with us sketchers, a dog does like a good kip but usually ready to jump up instantly for anything food related or a walk!  Paul I really like your Red Devils and the idea of improving portrait drawing this year. Margaret, good to see your lovely loose sketch of the hubby and glad he’s still playing. And Denise, great shops, love the titles! I found a photo my friend sent me of her five year old twin grandsons on a New Year walk and thought the way they were perched on the wall looked a good set up.
Very nice adaptation Tessa. Denise, great sketch and so very pertinent. I have a cupboard full too.  I’m having a self imposed stay at home day today as it’s too hot to go out painting or sketching (36C). So I have done a bit more to the Migrant Mother sketch. Still a fair bit of work to do and some softening of edges.
Thanks for mentioning the 36deg Ron, it’s -1 here, dull and picking with snow! The Migrant Mother subject is interesting and your sketch is very good. I must admit I hadn’t heard of this so looked it up now.
