Tessa, it’s a Summer School that’s run each year, over a fortnight, at a local school (their on summer holiday at the moment). It’s been great to have a different live sitter each day and experiment with different techniques, but glad there was no time for collage. I’ve seen some good collage done to add texture to a painting and portraits done from photographs of people, but I’m ok with just drawing and painting. Will have a look at the article in The Artist.
Katy, your latest of Harley is so skilfully done. How long did it take?
Paul, some very diverse sketches today but nonetheless very well done. I like the contrast of the bluebells and the bee. Bet you’re wishing it was spring already.
I need to get out today while the sun is still shining and scout some painting scenes.

I looked at Malcolm Coils collage and I really liked it Tessa. I've had a couple of appointments today, then went shopping so haven't had much time to do anything today. Your portraits are looking good Ron and Katy, Harley looks amazing, I've commented on the gallery. Paul, I love the old truck and the bluebells are beautiful and Margaret your watercolour is very pretty.

Glad you liked him Denise. I think he used to do more watercolour when I first noticed how work , very attractive, and a lot of Staithes in Yorkshire, lovely area.
Ron, the thought of being able to go to a real live summer school at present is wonderful. I am envious! Hopefully we may be able to do that sort of thing again later this year. Enjoy!

I started, what is likely to be, an epic sketch this week. It's taken from the the 'Migrant Mother' photograph, by Dorothea Lange and used as the iconic portrayal of hardship during the 30's Depression. Her name is Florence Owens Thompson and, if it goes well I want to put her story on the back. It's charcoal on A2 size paper. I'm hoping I have the patience to finish it. My sketch for today is the point I'm at with it.

Some amazing sketches , portrait and paintings it’s so good to see that more people are joining in .
Bit messy from me I was trying out the oil pastels again having found some old blenders that my daughter had when doing her A levels. They are fun to use but I found them a bit messy as you can see from the paper, a lot more practice needed.
