Nice bridge Bari. Oh Sylvia I was so Looking forwards to your elephants, hope you had words with the man, Lovely fuchsia . I bought some water soluble sketching pencils yesterday , so her is my first attempt in quite a while I have put it on in stages. The pencils are fine it me that need a bit of sorting out . As Sylvia said earlier you soon get out of practice.

I love horses Paul Dixie Dean and this one is a beaut. I had words with some poor keeper… I told him how upset I was.. plus I had decided on pink paint for lady elephants and blue for the chaps.ha ,well best laid plans of mice and elephants,
Totally agree about needing to sketch regularly aas you get out of practice. If I leave it a week I feel as if I am starting anew !! I have started a soft pastel coastal painting ( first timer) but this evening I thought I would do a charcoal sketch. I studiously avoid figures! Mmm better get some practice in then!!
Thank you Sylvia , I love horses especially the heavy working horses. You have prompted me to do some paintings of them at work, but I will need to practice sketching them first. Nice sketch Gillian, I have started to put figures in my paintings over the last year or so , I always avoided them before. I cannot do portrait but I find figures a bit easier and can get away without to much detail. A very quick sketch of an otter popping up out of the water roughly ten minutes. Used the water soluble pencils a bit .
Your bridge is excellent Tessa and I agree, it's important to do as much as you can, when possible. I'm with Sylvia and Paul with the horses, they are beautiful creatures. I once got thrown from a horse twice in one day, talk about bad luck, I think it's my middle name. Your charcoal sketch is good Gillian and the otter looks good Paul. The magazine landed through the door yesterday, it had a little brochure with the books in it. I'm going to get a couple but one caught my eye I thought, wow, that's some image It's called, Traditional Icon Painting. I might see if there is anything on the site or any images anyone has painted here. I wonder if any of you have tried such a thing, as usual, I know nothing about it.  I'm going to look it up though. I'm hoping to start a miner painting on Sunday, I've decided to try and do one in oil.
Yes Paul I need to do something with figures again! I love your otter. We have sea otters here in Orkney there’s a family  at a place called Brig ‘o’ Waithe which is a five minute drive from here. Well it’s October so I will start a new thread! Could you repost your lovely sketch there Paul?
