There’s probably a demo lurking around on the tips and techniques regarding Nitram liquid charcoal. I have seen a feature in TA last year by a professional artist who’s name I can’t recall, but Dawn will probably know, and it’s definitely worth reading.
I'll have a look in the tips and techniques Alan.
There are a few things on Youtube as well - I know there's an awful lot of rubbish on YouTube, but there's good stuff too if you've the patience to dig it out from among the dross.
Thanks for doing the thread again Gillian. Not a sketch from me but one my 6 year old granddaughter has just done of me, a portrait. I think the rosey cheeks are down to high blood pressure but she is excited I was putting it on here. I want her interest in art to start young and this could be the beginning of an interest for her,

That's lovely Esmay, I'm trying to encourage my grandchildren to draw and paint,so will show them your painting to inspire them.
Just added lovely Virginia Creeper into my book, right next to Boris…. Raining AGAIN .
Robert, I will have a good look thanks. Judith, I hope you get your grandchildren painting and they like Esmay's attempt. Sylvia the Virginia Creeper are beautiful and great shapes and colours.
Oooops  it’s not Virginia Creeper ,it’s a Japanese Acer I have in a very big pot.
Nice Acer Sylvia. I think I've finished Glamis Castle took a bit longer than normal as we are out walking and siteseeing most days..
Nice one Bari! Love the acer Sylvia. I have done a sketch using tinted charcoal again.
Lovely drawing of her beautiful Nan by Esmay . Like your Acer leaves Sylvia, I cannot grow an Acer despite trying several times , I just seem to kill them off unfortunately. A very nice painting Bari, certainly brought the sketch to life. I do like your tinted charcoal sketch Gillian that bit of colour adds a lot to the sketch.  A charcoal pencil and white pastel pencil sketch , from a online photo . I quite like the effect .
MI quite agree with using mid tone paper and a white and dark tone with it.  It is very effective for producing a finished piece, quite quickly.  Lovely horse Paul.  I have 7 acres in my garden including 5 in pots, but all in ericaceous soil in fairly sheltered positions. Meanwhile I have been to my first life class in at least 9 years.  I had forgotten what hard work it is as our teacher gets us to do lots of poses in quick time, 1 ,2, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 30 minutes.  The quick ones are often more accurate than the longer ones.  So here they are.  I should have drawn in the box that the model was sitting on in the bottom one, but ran out of time.

Nice sketching Linda. I like the single line drawings best. My sketch today is the farm road we use when walking to the village.
