October is here another month gone by! Thought I would set up sketch a day again, it’s great to see what we are all getting up to! Today I have tried out my first soft pastel painting. It turned out passable but I need lots of practice to perfect blending etc. First time I used my studio to. I shall post painting on gallery. I intend to do a sketch later so I will post again this evening.

Thanks Gillian, re posted as you asked one otter coming out of the water . You should get some photos Gillian and draw some of the wild ones near you . I have also added the basic sketch for the first in my series of heavy horses, well an attempt at painting them . Hope it works out a never venture never really tried serious horse painting . Did the stable first as it will let
me do the head only to start with , then work down to the body . Might not post it is it’s rubbish.

Thanks for doing the thread again Gillian. Not a sketch from me but one my 6 year old granddaughter has just done of me, a portrait. I think the rosey cheeks are down to high blood pressure but she is excited I was putting it on here. I want her interest in art to start young and this could be the beginning of an interest for her,

Thanks Gillian, but how can it be October already!?
Excellent start on your horse Dixie, and the otter is lovely.
The picture of the day is of course Esmay’s of her Nan! Smashing work, another talented artist on her way! X
I did a little Plein air sketching from my car on the way home from getting petrol (yay no queue!) trying to get the tones etc, then someone came and parked in front of me, so that was the end of that!
