That’s given you a lot of choice for sure, always easier to use pastels if they are broken into smaller pieces, as I’m sure you know Gillian… Yes I would be excited to be making a start with this splendid and comprehensive set.
Wow Gillian the look so good, I certainly would be excited about them as well. Thank you for the compliment re sketching and painting horses , they have become a bit of an obsession at the moment having said that  not complaining . I don’t know what it is but there is something quite relaxing and even therapeutic about it, almost like when I rode them as a child  Maybe that’s the link, my kids would tell me I’m loosing the plot if I told them that. They are also quite a challenge and that’s something I like .
Hello Shazia and welcome to POL and the forum , I like your painting . Making your own paints and book sounds  great , I would not know where to start . Hope you enjoy your paintings more as you get more involved with it and I’m looking forward to seeing your work on the gallery.
Welcome Shazia… you’ll get plenty of help, advice and encouragement on this website. I have often thought about making my own oil paints as this is my primary painting medium, but it is obviously very time consuming. Jackson’s have some great tutorials and stock all of the necessary ground ingredients etc, I may have a go at some stage!
It's wonderful Gillian to open a box of new pastels and have all those colours just suddenly in front of your eyes. Welcome Shazia, lovely watercolour and you will always find plenty of help and advice on here.
Re making your own paints…I was given boxes of pigments, plus gum and glycerine by the wife of an artist who had passed away. I’ve often thought about using them but never have…perhaps, like Alan, one day I might. Word of warning to Gillian. Be very careful you don’t drop any of those Unison pastels - I have- their pigment is so pure that it is extremely hard to remove any stain. Saying that, I spent quite a time this morning cleaning a trail of oil paint which must have caught on the bottom of my shoe! Red Earth and cad orange!! Across from my room to the bathroom ( new pale carpet) and down the stairs. Not got over it yet.
Ouch Marjorie bet your cross with yourself, good job it wasn’t you , husband  he probably would never hear the end of it .
Leisure Painter has an article on making up egg tempura this month.  Interesting, but way too much work for the likes of me.

How right you are, Paul.😆
OMG Marjorie I would be beside myself if that happened to my carpet!! I have put the pastels in my studio! So safe for now! Welcome Shazia! It’s very stormy here in Orkney today and forecast 80 mph winds tomorrow!! Here’s today’s sketch using pastel pencils on black paper
This has worked really well, Gillian.
A lady with patience how lovely Shazia .   that really is creative,  I admire your patience .  Marjorie ,a new carpet. Well done . Gillian; my bins are dancing across the garden as I tap so I don’t envy your 80 mph gales.   Have you all noticed Dawns kindness putting Sams Tale in the news section….. you are going to get sooooo bored with me.  But they are arriving next week.   Will make amazing pressies for animal lovers. X.  Especially as I have had so much encouragement from a lot of you here ,Alan Bickley popped in full stops and apostrophes for me…. My white gel pen arrived Paul. So:a five min play.
