Nice red kite Hillary, I live quite near the where they were originally released in Buckinghamshire, we used to  be really pleased to see even one. Now as I write I can see about a dozen circling in the  thermals. Most I have ever seen was about fifty circling over where some dear had been culled. Great looking veg Katy,  I was kraken with the ships in the desert have ships of the desert in there shade, it an amazing story how the sea( large lake) dried out in 40 years. A very quick sketch of old sketch pads with specks on top, not my specks as I was wearing them to draw.
Nice to see veggie still life Katy! Love a good book Paul! My offering today is a quick (ish) watercolour I was playing with in my sketch book. Incredibly hot here. Forecast for 50c - 52 c tomorrow!!
I've been absent for a while house-hunting and reorganising my life back in WA. Found time, today, to breath and have a look at what's been going on while I've been away. Some great sketches this month, so felt I had to take a moment, put charcoal to paper and sketch something. We're house-sitting for friends and this is fairly quick sketch of the eucalyptus tree (1 of many) outside the door.
Nice to see you back Ron. Your watercolour is great Gillian. Mines a sketch of some Angels Trumpets that my neighbour has in the garden, for a larger piece, not sure whether to colour or not, what do think?
That’s a great drawing, Hilary, it’s a dilemma. If it was mine I would dive in and then spoil it! Welcome back Ron, good to see you drawing something away from your hotel room. Love the books Paul, something I must do as I inherited a large number of books from my dad and some are really old and would make an interesting subject. Love the watercolour of the plant tumbling down the wall, Gillian. Might do something later.
Good to see you back with your eucalyptus tree Ron! Like the angel trumpets Hilary it would be lovely to see them in colour! I have been playing about with bits of watercolour paper today . This is 12”x4”. Lesson for today don’t use old masking tape! Too sticky and lifted some paper!!

Some excellent work done in the last day or so, two lovely watercolour from a Gillian, great tree Ron and good to see your back with us. By the way Ron I finished the Clyde puffer it in my gallery. Like your sketch of the trumpet flowers Hillary. Not a lot from me today, spend a few hours with my granddaughters, both used my easels and a small canvas and painted under the shade of a tree in the garden, both loved it and took the results home for mum and dad. It’s amazing what imagination children have, both wanted to know if they are proper artist now, definitely was my answer.

Paul, you should post the results here for us to see! Bad luck, Gillian, that’s happened to me too. And painting on a rough bit of paper the best thing you’ve done in ages which should have been on a pristine new paper! Not much today, struggling with oils which is taking up all my time.
After a very sleepless night (in common with most I suspect) I was trying out some new ink pens that I got in the sale at Hobbycraft.   Five Uni Pin fineliners in pale and mid  grey plus a black brush pen for £4.50, love a bargain. So another floral sketch of some apple blossom using Light Grey 0.1. Ive yet to try oils Katy, I think I’m a long way off. I really like the size of your painting Gillian, gives a good effect to the landscape.  Paul, have you ever painted canal boats, I have a couple of reference photos that I would like to try.
Lovely flower a Katy, I have never tried using oils mainly because of possible smell ( doesn’t take much to give me a headache). What do you think so far? Lovely blossom Hilary, I have periods of insomnia but I try not to disturb my dog so have never abandoned my bed to paint or draw ... yet! Maybe I should it would beat lying in bed wide awake!! Have ink pens and water brush on my wish list ( which is getting longer!).
Good drawing Hilary, can’t fault a bargain! Gillian, I’m using Cobra water miscible oils as my first foray into oil paints, so very little smell and I can wash it off my clothes if I’m quick. I’m too impatient to wait for the layers to dry and then the colours muddy so the secret must be - get on with some housework🙁or gardening😊or have another medium on the go at the same time. I’ve got a landscape on the WIP at the moment and getting some guidance from Alan and Robert.
Quick sketch with graphite pencil, been working on a watercolour today, staying out of the searing heat we currently have!
