Nice sketch Ron. Today is a pencil and watercolour wash of a very old water pump. Sadly it no longer exciting as a complete idiot decided to drive over it breaking the post and smashing the cast iron case. I had done a couple of sketch a few years ago and fortunately have a photo.
Ooh some nice sketches, unusual subject there Paul. Like the finish of it. Today I have finally sat down with a sheet of paper and a charcoal pencil. Basically a big doodle of a tree. It was less messy but must say I preferred the feel of a charcoal stick as softer than the pencil which seems to require more pressure. Will keep playing with it as I can see the merits of using it for location sketches!
Great sketches, everyone. Nothing from me today, might get to it tomorrow.
Today’s offering is a pastel work in progress, back in my comfort zone after a short foray into watercolour and oil! Suki the Bijon and Barney the Westie were my dad’s dog we inherited and our friend’s dog, both long gone.
Very nice wip Katy, lovely dogs.  I’ve is a work in progress , I miss working in the woodland, and especially with the autumn colours coming soon. I have used some of my old photos to create this a early morning mist in the trees with autumn understory. Hopefully we will get back out there soon and I can then do some painting on site.
That’s really lovely Paul, my favourite tree. I would have thought being outdoors you could resume your woodland work soon. I do some volunteering for Riding for the Disabled and we are hoping that will resume after half term, it’s a bit complicated because of working with special needs children. Also hoping to resume our art group soon too.
Like he trees and old pump Dixie. Also the charcoal tree scene from Gillian and those cute little dogs from Katy. I’ve not done much this week but have been looking in, and can’t believe we are almost through August! Hopefully we’ll all be back to more normal activities soon. Our art group plan to restart in September, fingers crossed. Our hall is big enough but not sure how putting out tables etc will work!? Someone normally arrives early to put them out, and we all help clear away at the end. It will be lovely to see people again, and I’m not sure a lot of work will happen the first week or so! Has anyone else planned how classes will operate?
Tessa, our village hall is open now but the meeting we had with them listed very detailed cleaning routine, I personally don’t have a problem with that, all windows wide open, that wasn’t popular with many, and wearing a mask. I won’t do that. We have agreed to start meeting outdoors to start with and take it from there. Wish we had started that up when we had good weather!
Unfortunately there are no art clubs in this part of rural Spain! When I first moved here ten years ago a local British artist started a class which really was like a club but that stopped about six years ago sadly as we enjoyed the social aspect! Here the Covid rules would put the scuppers on it meeting now. Also we have to wear masks everywhere by law. I am moving back to Orkney ( in Stromness) and need to investigate is there’s a club there although I doubt it very much. As you say Katy there are strict rules about cleaning etc so it will be quite time consuming to run you clubs! Lovely trees Paul!

Can’t work yet Katy as the property’s belong to the a National Trust, and they have very strict rules about working. They are also undergoing a reorganisation and some of the full time rangers will be made redundant, this will have a Hugh impact on the volunteers, as the have to have a supervisor. I have the necessary qualifications to run a group and do, but I could not do enough days to satisfy all the volunteers needs. Any that for the future, here is the finished woodland scene.
That’s really lovely Paul.
Caught sight of an appealing bunch of tulips in a blue vase on the tele, quick sketch with water soluble markers in case I fancy doing something with it.
