I just found the a certain painting Hotel” Les Archives. It does not say it’s an oil painting and gives no size, or what the image is painted on. However if that is a painting by a human hand and not by a Al generating machine, then Vermeer has done a come back kid.  So congratulations to the new Vermeer by human hand? Or by Machine.
Yes, it's more AI manipulation, and even some of the most perceptive among us are falling for it.  This sort of deception has no place on a painting website - serious painters (not glum or formulaic, but those who make an honest stab at doing and showing their best work) just won't stay here if this stuff keeps creeping through - it may look appealing at first sight, but it's soulless junk at the end of the day, showing no artistic skill, just an ability to manipulate pictures - even if it's your own pictures, at least be honest about it. Worth repeating, this isn't about digital art - that's a category of its own; it's trickery - and morally bankrupt.
Is it still on the Gallery? I tried to find it by the title I think that John gave it, but no luck. Perhaps if it's still available someone could upload it here so that we can see it?
It's bad enough having them on the Gallery.... you'll  find it, and half a dozen more, under postings by Grégoire Mathieu.
Thank-you Robert, at least we now have the poster's name if anyone is curious.  Paul has now sent me a couple of examples, can quite see what you mean.
I’ve written to the magazine editor, so will be back in touch as soon as I’ve received her response. I enclosed a couple of examples for her to view and see that they are unmistakably AI.
I’ve received a reply from Sally, the magazine editor. Understandably she can’t ban or even remove the images unless we can provide absolute proof that these images are AI. I know that they are, and so do a few of my esteemed colleagues, but proof is required. The editor has written to this person asking for his response, but he’s already stated in his narrative that they are oil paintings, so I don’t expect him to deviate from that -
I was curious enough to try and look him up.  Not to be confused with a barrister called Mathieu Gregoire, or even an artist named Mathieu Gregoire (completely different style).  I came across 9 of his (Gregoire Mathieu) paintings on a website called ArtMajeur, some of which are posted on POL, and was curious that every one of them was marked 'Not For Sale'.  I am not sure what to read into that, but it is certainly no way to make a living.
Thank Alan for the update and Tony for the additional information.
Thanks Alan.  To be expected, I suppose.   We'll have to see how things develop.  Hope it doesn't go the way of Pinterest.
Tessa has already posted a screenshot of his Instagram (headed my.ai.ai.ai) where he says he has posted some of his AI creations - at least one of the images shown there also appears on his POL gallery as an oil painting.
Thank you Alan, and for your input Tony. With you Lewis its bad on Pinterest. It’s getting to the point where we say what is real and what isn’t. But on the other hand that can wake us up to being more observant.
