Murray Ince

Biography

Murray William Cole Ince Murray was born in Newport in 1957. Murray became a furniture maker and designer and therefore was always drawing. Murray took up painting seriously in the early 1990’s, In 1997 he did a teaching qualification and an A level in Art and Design. Murray loves to teach people to draw and paint and has tutored classes at the Isle of Wight College and takes students for private tuition in his home studio, demonstrates for art groups and currently tutors The 5 Bells and ‘John Finch Art Groups’ on the Isle of Wight. He was until recently a ‘Leader’ for HF Holidays, running painting and drawing holidays all over Britain as well as other painting holidays in Britain, France and Italy and now works for the world famous ‘ALPHA’ holidays. Murray’s first love is landscape painting in Winsor and Newton’s ‘Artisan’ water-mixable oils and has written a book titled ‘Landscape Painting In ‘Artisan’ Water-Mixable Oils’. He is a product ambassador for Winsor and Newton and regularly writes ‘How To’ paint articles for ‘Leisure Painter’. Murray is the founder member of the ‘Society of painters in Water-Mixable Oils’, regularly exhibits on the Isle of Wight and in southern England and has paintings in private and public collections all over the world. He always has a painting on the go and says “I am never stuck for ideas or inspiration and always have at least a dozen paintings waiting to be done, the next painting is always just around the corner and who knows, maybe one day a masterpiece”! Most of all though Murray enjoys teaching showing students that painting can be a lot less daunting than they imagine, he says “to witness the enthusiasm in creating a piece of art that they are proud of is simply magical”!
