Stunning work Murray, I hadn’t thought of using gouache on pastel paper must give it a go.

Awesome; striking colours. 😄

Working on pastel paper is great but it doesneed to be stretched first unlike this one where I didn't bother and it is a little 'cockled'.

How absolutely lovely, and thanks for the tip! Like Barry, I hadn't thought of using gouache on pastel paper..will try it!!

Superb! Pity about the cockling, still we learn something new every day.

The 'Cockling' is only very slight and will actually flatten when mounted and framed but i would recommend stretching as a precautionary measure if painting in Gouache on pastel paper. I have painted on other brands of pastel paper which were slightly heavier than this one which were unaffected but to be sure the best ground to work on is your mount-board off-cuts. the painting of 'Harriet' will appear in a future issue of 'Leisure painter' later this year as a step by step guide to painting in Gouache and is actually the second article for LP I have written on the subject of Gouache. I have also written four articles on painting with 'Artisan' water mixable oils which have already appeared in 2018/19.
