Great portrait Murray, you have made a real good job of painting yourself by the look of it, and you look like a real cool dude in that hat!

I really enjoyed the tour through your gallery ,these are fine oil paintings

some hat harry

Fantastic portrait Murray, I like the hat too!

Thanks for the generous remarks, the hat is very good for keeping the sun out of my eyes and the rain off my head, unfortunately it doesn't help me look like George Clooney but then nothing would! It would make my daughter laugh to think of anyone referring to me as looking like a real cool dude but thank you very much Ros.

Hallo Murray - I've drawn myself: will that do? I really don't want to paint a self-portrait; think of the wastage of paint ... and the effect on small children and horses.... We have yet to meet face to face, though should do before much longer, but from seeing your avuncular features on film, you seem to have done well with this. And the hat suits you.

I set my art group the challenge of painting a self portrait and having never done one myself set about painting this one in Artisan oils on a raw linen stretched canvas and I have to say that initially it is quite a strange experience. Having painted this you can see why I specialise in landscape painting. I donned the hat in an attempt to make myself look more interesting only to discover it looks more whimsical. It is good fun though and if you have never tried it I suggest you should give it a go.
