A Fine Day
One of my favourite Canadian artists is Alex Colville who died in 2013 after a long and productive life. I think one of the things I like about Colville is his eye for developing interesting and thought-provoking compositions. Like every good picture, they have a story to tell and Colville gives the viewer the freedom to develop his/her narrative along with his own. While I have a tendency toward vivid colours Colville’s use of colour tends to be muted and is another aspect I find appealing about his work.
