Little Wood near the Pond by Martin S Taylor

Love how animated the trees are Martin and that gorgeous, pal green in the leaves.

This is really good.

Excellent use of colour.

I like a bit clumsy - it has the personal element, and life. The foreground here is a bit messy, I suppose - but then, when you go for a walk in the countryside it's not all beautifully manicured, dry underfoot, bramble and tangle-free: it IS messy. This reminds me very much of an artist I used to know, must be around 50 years ago: she painted in oil - this would be good in oil (which isn't meaning it doesn't look good in watercolour).

My kind of watercolour, like this a lot Martin

A great sense of depth in this piece martin.

I like your palette Martin and the way you have caught the light.

Thanks for your supportive words everyone. I think we are often over critical of our own work. I know I am but usually it helps to bring improvement

I like the bold treatment, the painting works very well.

Atmospheric painting that invites me to have a visit.

Sketched the scene en plein air directly onto the watercolour block and took it home to complete with watercolour - a bit clumsily in places if I’m honest whilst trying to be bold. On Canson Heritage cp 14x10” approx
