I remember them well Martin, used to be on my doorstep almost. The pen and ink shows them up beautifully.

Just wonderful Martin…those elegant trees and your sketching ability!

Majestic trees Martin. I remember visiting Clumber Park years ago. A wonderful place for studying trees.

What a beautiful plein air sketch, Martin! Those trees at Clumber Park are magnificent!

Really good Martin, super colour harmony.

What fabulous trees and a great painting Martin

Beautiful soft colours and memories of childhood picnics pre National Trust when a man on a moped used to collect entrance fees!

What wonderful colours and shapes

All your positive comments are gratefully received. Thank you so much Carole Alan David David John Heather Jill and Sylvia

Beautiful bold ink and wash, Martin - I like the addition of the cyclists in the shadows.

A super line and wash, Martin!

Lovely pen and wash study.

This is so beautifully composed and painted Martin. Very well done.

Superb Martin! You must have a mystical link with your subject, it appears they know exactly what you want to say with pen and paint, and they oblige. Clumber park was my playground once upon a time.

Superb painting the trees are beautifully painted.

Jenny Anne Hilary Spencer Fiona Coral Dixie. Thanks for your kind words which are very welcome I love the idea of having a mystical link with trees Fiona. I do empathise with them in view of how we treat many of them. Also possibly true as I am a plank at times!

Beautiful Martin, love the drawing of course, but love the colours even more!

😂 I’m sure, you certainly are not a plank! Made me laugh though. I think I share the link Martin, I adore trees, apart from maybe Leylandii …… they have their place except not in gardens, perhaps. I tried to count how many trees I have planted over the years, a few years ago, and I must be nearing 1,000 give or take. Mostly native trees.

An excellent painting Martin, I love it.

Your trees are SOLID and beautifully drawn. The two (smaller) people give the trees majesty in old age. This is an elegant ink/wash.

Thanks very much Sarah Diane and Lynne. Appreciate your input

Good of you to say Fiona and glad you smiled. You’ve been busy with the planting. Very creditable. I’m impressed by your dedication

I love the variety of wonderful trees at Clumber Park. These are part of a group of huge Cedars. Pen and ink en plein air sketch completed in studio with watercolour washes. It was a dull day so lacking much shadow but you get what you get with our weather don’t you? On Canson Moulin de Roy Rough watercolour paper 16x12”
