9 inch by 4 inch Watercolour painting (plein air). The Fall weather in the Yukon Territory of Canada can present challenges to the plein air painter. However, as the snow line on the mountains shows, the weather cooperated, and I managed a number of sketches as well as taking this painting to the 85% completion point before retiring to the Motorhome I had rented for my 5 day trip. Tagish is a small, rural community in the heart of Yukon's Southern Lakes. It is the traditional home of the Carcross Tagish First Nation. The Tagish people live on the watershed of the Yukon River and have almost continuous water access to the Bering Sea. The gold seekers of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898 travelled to Dawson through the heart of this nation’s land. I used a Canson cold press watercolour paper (140 lbs/300gms). My paint source was via a Winsor and Newton Watercolour basic paint box of 12 colours: I really like simplicity when plein air painting.
