Just love it, as I do all your one-liners! Especially that big nose.

Another great little piece...... they're all so good. I can feel her enthusiasm !

This looks like you've had some great fun creating your piece. I love it.

Thank you very much Marjorie, Avril and Joseph - it was fun to do and made me laugh when I turned the paper round and saw what I had drawn. I honestly can't draw dogs, so I have surprised myself in producing something that definitely has the look of a dog! I find myself now looking about for subjects that I would have shied away from before as I am beginning to feel I can tackle anything. Feel rather happy about that!

Another super cool pouch Thea!

What an adorable dog Thea! All of your one-liners have been so good but I think this is my favourite so far!

Thank you so much Fiona and Christine. I think I surprised myself as I definitely ain't no animal artist, so the fact that it looks a bit like a dog has to be a bonus, lol!

Good sense of depth in this one Thea, her nose and feet are coming straight at us and I like the way that she's positioned just on top of the blue area. These are going so well!

Another winner Thea, these are getting better and better.

Very appealing Thea, she looks very eager to get to her dinner!

I've been away a while and I find that you are becoming a one liner acrobat! What with it being a one liner and upside down! LOL! A lovely feeling of a dog scrabbling to get back on his feet. Great fun :)

Missed this first time round - it's lovely Thea

Thank you so much Louise, Stephen, Carole, Sarah and Michael - lovely encouraging comments. Milly is quite funny in that if you wave a liver flavoured treat under her nose, she goes positively cross-eyed with desire and he does rather like her dinner as well. I wish I could do more of these drawings, but the Christmas pressures are upon me and I am struggling for some time in the day to draw and paint. I can see I will be burning the midnight oil!

Beyond the approach and intent, the acid test is: does it possess dogginess? And the answer is: yes, in heaps!

Thanks very much, Kim - it's a bit of fun, isn't it.

This is superb, Thea! So much life and movement in this painting. I agree with Stephen - you get better with each painting.

Thank you very much, Seok. However, I am finding that you do actually get better at doing them and that isn't necessarily a good thing as you then start to lose the first quirky freshness of the drawing. I shall just have to make it harder for myself I think - perhaps draw standing on my head, lol!!

My dog, Milly likes to lie in the boot of my car and I went out to tell her that grub was up. I think her look says it all - food at last! - and I luckily managed to take a low angle fore-shortened photo of her just at the right moment (I'm always creeping up on her to get good shots!). Done with just a couple of very quick peeks - I did look to do the painting.

About the Artist

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
