I see what you mean Thea, they are spookily similar! Mine was done from a photo too but I stopped at the first row, you've done so well to include so many sheep. I have a photo of a group of Puffins on my desk so I think that might be tomorrow's project. I'm really enjoying this!

These are all working so well aren't they and I'm enjoying seeing them here as much as I am trying the one line method out. This is super, your best yet in my opinion. Not only for the lively pen work, but for the equally lively addition of colour. I've a feeling that all this will lead to a much more spontaneous way of painting in the future. We won't worry so much if things aren't quite perfect, it's the overall effect that matters. These one liners are all so full of life, excitement and enthusiasm as Christine has just demonstrated when she talks about tomorrow's puffins. No stressing about what shall we paint next. Now there aren't enough hours in the day, that's how keen I am anyway and as they don't take long, I recommend others who perhaps wonder what we're on about try drawing spontaneously like this, in a continuous line.

Thank you Christine, Michael and Louise for your really interesting comments. It was a bit spooky, Christine, wasn't it with us both doing sheep virtually on the same day! Michael, I like your philosophy! Louise, you are so right that all this practice drawing more spontaneously in one continuous line, with minimum checking where one is in the drawing, will undoubtedly lead to working more freely. No stressing as you say because the line is in control of the outcome rather than the hand.

Love this one Thea, these one liners are really working well, I'm keen to do some more as I've only managed two so far, but I haven't had much time and I've got two spider/gnomes cartoons on the go at the moment, but one liners hopefully to follow!

Nearly missed this - glad I found it - done with your usual superb flair.

This turned out really well.

Nearly missed this as well Thea, I was not counting the legs as I was admiring the content and I like the that it coveys . spontaneity about it

Did this one-liner from a photo I took while out walking my dog. We walked past the sheep and all the ewes turned and faced us. There were actually a lot more of them but to draw them all was a bridge too far for a one-liner, so I did just the front couple of lines of them. I did look down to put the noses and eyes. P.S. Don't count the legs as I am not sure there are enough, lol!

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
