Really well done, one of my favourites of your pen and ink. I love the lighthouse peering over the rooftops :)

I agree with Lesley, this is one of your very best Thea. Very colourful, sunny image, good balance between the pen and watercolour.

Another Lovely one Thea, i like the lighthouse looking out over the rooftops as well, great colours as well and love you pen and ink outlines followed by the lovely watercolour washes, we have all been caught out by yet another multiple poster havent we! and this time whenever i checked in their comments shocked to find yet another comment praising the work and no one else had even commented on most important thing that they had posted too many!

Lovely work Thea. I like the way that your colours merge together on the rooftops and the pinky shades of the house centre back. The composition is good as well in that when looking at the painting, my eyes are drawn up the winding road, taking in the yellow lines and cars and wondering what's round the corner! Good drawing as well.

Really good composition, the painting draws your eye in and round that enticing corner, leading to that beckoning lighthouse - super!

Louise must have read my mind, because her comment wasn't there when I posted mine - honest! lol

Ah, Britten country. Wonderful place - my brother has a cottage up the coast at Sea Palling. You've got the tricky perspective spot on Thea, and the cars add life to the scene. I think it's perfect - your pen 'n ink technique seems to be growing in confidence.

Thea, the best in your series! I especially like how the red car draws the eye, which then takes you up to the red chimney and then higher still to the red tone in the top of the light house. Your dedication to pen and wash is paying off so very well ....(there you have it! You have won me over! LOL!) Looking forward to more :)

Thank you very much Lesley, Stephen and Ros for your encouragement. Pen and wash is proving to be more difficult than it first looked but it is so enjoyable I will keep going.

Thank you so much Louise, Debs, Kim and Sarah for your lovely comments. Glad I have won you over. Sarah, but I am definitely not abandoning my normal painting so some of those will still appear on the gallery. Kim, I know Sea Palling well and have walked on the beach there many times. It is a lovely coastline and I have certainly found it inspiring.

Instantly recognisable yours Thea. Love it.

I'm really enjoying your ink and wash gems, Thea - they're really splendid. They showcase not only your superb watercolor skills but also your dexterity with lines. This one is just absolutely delightful - so much atmosphere and so full of charm.

It's already been said! You are gathering a nice series of these.

Thank you very much Fred, Seok and Gudrun for your very kind comments.

What can one add? It is a lovely pen and wash painting, Thea, and I always look out for your work, (although, to be honest, I am not sure about the perspective of the window on the very far left - that is, the one nearest the viewer). That's just me nit-picking, I am afraid! Sorry!

Thank you, Lionel, for your nice comment. You are probably right about the window, but to my shame, I am not an accurate artist at all. There are always loads of mistakes in my paintings and on looking closely at the window I can see that the top goes the wrong way. Hey ho - all I can do in my defense is to blame it on artistic licence lol! I will keep an eye on my windows in future - slap on wrist for me!

Hi Thea, just seen your lovely comment on my dogs face pastel, thanks so much for taking a look

Hi Thea Ros P here, thanks for your comment on my latest cat pastel pet portrait, the one on the deep red background! Thanks so much for your words, reason for different colour backgrounds is because I have a paper pad with different colour on every page so watch this space!!

Love this Thea! You're certainly getting there...... everything about it is excellent.

HI Thea, haven't been on the site in ages but I've just been looking through the pen and watercolour drawings you've been doing. I love this one in particular. Beautiful colours as always!

I really think you are good at pen and wash and I think you should be doing more of it. Try and see if you can work towards having a particular pen and wash technique of your own, cause I can feel like you are very good at it.

Done from a photo I took on holiday in Southwold last year. I'm still trying to get to grips with what I want to do in pen and wash and I haven't achieved what is in my head as yet, but I did enjoy having a go at this scene. There were several challenges to address and I hope I came to the right decisions in at least some of the areas. The title refers to the restrictive yellow lines - plenty of those to be found in Southwold! Pen and Wash on Langton 200lbs 33cm x 28cm.

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
