Joy and Peace at Christmas

Joy and Peace at Christmas
Comments

Thea, your christmas card design is SO much more suitable than mine - very pretty in fact. I'm away to see the others.....................

Ah, having seen all 3 I am going to be unhelpful, I would print some of each. Just thinking of my own list - some designs are more suitable for different people. They are all nice. If I had to pick just one I think it would be the grandchild with the santa - because it is more personal

This is such a lovely work of art Thea and now I find myself in a very difficult position when I have to give my vote. Here are the results of the Finnish jury: Real Santa 3 points, Countdown 2 points and Joy & Peace 2 points. You already guessed why, didn't you?

This one! (this isn't helping is it) The vote will probably be split 3 ways (lol)

Thank you all very much for the comments and vote. It seems that Santa has Deux Pointes, the wreath has Une Pointe and the advent one has Nil Pointe. All very interesting and I take your point Jenny that it might be best to do a few of all three but for cost's sake I shall probably have to just go for one. I'll see if anyone else comes along with a vote.

I like all three designs, but Santa Claus works best for me - it has that magic of Christmas that is so missing these days!

Sorry Thea I seem to have somehow missed your Advent Calender - MP's perhaps? lol, all three are charming and it's a difficult choice for you to make, I especially like the 'Thea touch' of apples in this wreath and now can't decide between this one or Father Christmas!!!

I love this one, but all are very good Thea.

Hi Thea, I'm the same as Debs, sorry missed both your previous cards, like all three, but No 2 is my favourite. I'm going to have to get my act together and get into the Christmas spirit double quick.

All winners but yup - tis Santa for me

Beautiful Xmas card Thea, love it!

Thea, I think this one gets my vote! The other two would also make great Christmas cards but this one, for me, shows your talent of colour blending in those lovely washes that you do. The message also tips the scales, the world could do with more 'joy and peace' . You have a difficult choice to make.....rather you than me. I can't make my mind up whether to do my own design this year.

This one definitely. I have been Christmas shopping today and have found that the Xmas cards are "not much cop" this year. In fact, it is so nice to see this one, best by far that I've seen today.:)

I like all 3 but the detail you've managed to achieve whilst leaving your trademark white paper here is wonderful, it gets my vote :)

Thank you so much to everyone for all your lovely comments which are so encouraging. Also thanks to all those who have kindly voted - it has really helped me make up my mind. I think in the end I might do the wreath as my Christmas card, but will also have some of the Father Christmas one done for close family and the children I send cards to. I did do two last year - one more formal than the other and it seemed to work. I have really enjoyed doing all the cards as they seem a bit more frivolous than 'normal' painting and I didn't seem to experience the same angst about getting them right. Perhaps it is the Christmas spirit getting to me lol!

I would print some of each, too, Thea. I am afraid I never get round to painting my own Christmas cards.

Absolutely beautiful, Thea! Love the variation of greens and the very festive feel.

Better late than never - I hope. I love this card with your delicate touch and gently flowing colours. Have a Happy Christmas with your family and best wishes for 2013. Thank you for all your kind comments throughout the year.

If I could chip in with a late vote, this is my favourite, however they are all worthy of printing. Merry Christmas.

... and Happy Christmas and all the best for 2013 - and thanks for your encouraging comments these last months.

Last of my three Christmas cards. I drew this out and then didn't think I would be able to paint all that holly showing variety in the greens and actually making it look like holly. Green is definitely not my best colour I have to say! However, there is a bit of story to this painting, which I won't bore everyone with, but it did mean that I couldn't give it my full concentration while I was painting it and I think in hindsight it worked in my favour as the paint seemed to flow better than I thought it was going to. I have to now decide which one to print to send out. Some people have kindly said that they would have a look at all three of my designs and vote for their favourite, which would be really helpful. I appreciate it if anyone has the time (or energy!) to do this. Watercolour on Langton 200lbs.

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
