Oh Hector - this is absolutely beautiful! It looks just like your Rana and I love her jewellery! She must be so proud of you. Very well done! I deserve to do very well in the competition.

Sorry Hector, that didn't make a lot of sense did it? I don't deserve to do well - but you certainly do! Best of luck!

Oh this is so good, showing lots of promise. Hope it wins!! it deserves to. It does show a presence unusual in such a young boy, doesn't it, the angle of the head, and the features really portray character. Good for Hector.

Bravo Hector, a very young little star. He already knows how to handle watercolour. Do not let him stop. He could go a long way with it.

well done hector! an excellent watercolour painting! you should be very proud of it !!

Thank you all so much on Hector's behalf. He will be thrilled with all the nice comments. I don't know if we will get anywhere in the competition but we have both enjoyed doing our portraits so much. A lovely shared experience.

This is fantastic! Please give Hecor a huge hug from me - he is great!

Well done Hector; it really does look like Rana. I hope she's not always so solemn.

Thank you both - I will hand on your comments to Hector. Diana, I actually think that I do have a solemn serious look on my face in repose - so perhaps that is what Hector sees. When I worked in school lots of the children used to think I was cross with them, when I wasn't at all. Must remember to smile more often!

A very confident portrait painting of Rana. Well done Hector.

Well, Thea, all I can say is "Wow!" This is a lovely portrait by Hector - Excellent, Hector! I too had an enjoyable experience "sitting" for my grandchildren and they, too, loved painting. It's something I'll definitely be doing again.

Nice one, young man...

Another victim, great painting.

a talented artist , keep him painting

Hector, this is fantastic. I am a a great deal older than you andquit and bit older than your Rana. I wish I could paint portraits like she does and it looks as though you will be doing soon.

This is my grandson, Hector's, portrait of me (Grandma but all my grandchildren call me Rana). I gave him my old watercolour box a few months ago and he has been teaching himself how to use the paints. I have entered it into the LP competition along with my portrait of him (which was also my first watercolour portrait).

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
