One of the first things I saw was the lettering. I like it because it’s not precise and blends with the rest of the subject. Lovely piece of work Thalia.

I detest masking fluid Thalia, so can’t offer any suggestions. However, this is excellent and nothing remotely wrong with the lettering!

I love the lettering - definitely no need for masking fluid!

Interesting doorway Thalia, I envy you having such a beautiful place for your coffee! The only thing I can think is wax resist? You could use it over a colour.... Anyway I like your lettering as it is, all adds to your loose and colourful style.

Love the mystery beckoning the viewer into the interior Thalia. Great palette. Wouldn't worry about the lettering as it looks absolutely fine.

Lovely lively feel to this Thalia.

Your island provides you with some wonderful subjects...another beauty.

Looks mighty fine to me Thalia. You know how I dislike totally photographic art with no character. This has it. Love how you paint on scraps with such abandon. (-:

As Diana said it is the lettering that catches the eye, and I think it looks very good and natural. To be honest I struggle with lettering so am envious !

Awww, thank you Diana, but I tried so hard to get 'hard' literal lettering...probably impossible on this extra rough Khadi...I agree, it does blend with the rest! Thank you, Alan...yes it's horrible, I throw it away after two weeks it's useless here. Thank you Heather and Carole, yes wax resist or gouache, thank you Carole, that's a kind comment, thanks Dennis, Lewis and Jim...wish you could come and share the coffee, Richard, thank you...we all struggle with lettering, thank you everyone for your kindness and reassurance...I'll stop beating myself up now!

The lettering suits the study I think Thalia, it sits easy with the overall style.

Painted with energy and confidence Thalia - your loose style is so effective.

Thank you very much, Fiona, Dennis, Romila and Shaun, really appreciate your helpful comments!

I have painted this lovely old doorway where I sit for coffee when in Victoria many times. I decided to try a larger isolated image this time. I'm never happy with the lettering, I cannot seem to keep masking fluid here, it always goes hard. Any ideas?? could it be better kept in the fridge! Have just thrown away yet another small jar! solutions gratefully received!
