What a great building and lots of tricky perspectives, look forward to seeing it in paint

It's a wonderful sketch Tessa.

A lovely sketch of a fine looking building Tessa.

Many thanks Heather, and yes it’s a tricky one!

Thank you Richard and Denise.

Dixie, thank you, and yes it’s your sort of building if you know what I mean! Fascinating history. There’s also an old derelict turbine house which is interesting but I didn’t take photos, will do next time. There are old stables, all of which belonged to the nearby Manor House.

Excellent sketch Tessa 🙂

Well done, Tessa.

What great buildings and such great perspective Tessa.

Thank you so much Stephen, Mia, Coral and Carole. I do appreciate your comments. 😉

Thank you Spencer , your comments are always appreciated.

Many thanks Sarah.

What a great old building… just my thing Tessa… nicely drawn and very neat, unlike my scribbles. I would have gone for a lot more tonal contrast with a sharp 3B pencil, but I’ve been known to overdo it in that area.

Many thanks Alan. Yes I agree a sharper contrast would have been good. Basically i was trying to get the odd shape of the building, especially that odd roof, with a view to a plein air painting soon-weather permitting!

Very good Tessa.

Convincing sketch well done Tessa considering it’s complications

Thanks so much Karen and Martin for your encouragement.

Many thanks Carole.

I’ve only missed seeing the gallery a couple of days…..I’m still catching up. Glad I didn’t miss your super drawing Tessa, it’s a great subject and wonderful perspectives.

Hi Fiona and thank you. Yes you only need to miss a day or two and you have many pages to wade through. I haven’t really drawn much for ages so did enjoy this while definitely finding it challenging!

A4 sketch from a photo of mine taken earlier in the week when we went to look at this lovely old building which we are planning to paint in a few weeks. I thought I would try a preliminary sketch as it’s such an unusual shape and that roof in particular is a challenge. Drawn at art group this morning.

Although I did a year's Foundation Course at art college after leaving school, I hadn’t painted much in the interim, except for a few attempts here and…
