Ah thank you Heather and Glennis....it was certainly an emotional piece to paint. I wasn't sure about the pose to begin with but I'm pleased with it how it turned out x

I kept dogs for well over 30 years, and live with other people's dogs now - why don't they live longer! This is a fantastic painting, from Kirstie herself right down to your treatment of the fabric on which her head rests.

This is a tribute portrait to the beautiful Kirstie who is sadly no longer with us! Her owners have seen an image of the portrait and have told me that they think it will feel as if she is back with them as she looks down from the wall.... as a portrait artist, I really couldn't ask for more than that and I'm so gladdened that they feel that way. I just hope this brings Kirstie's owners some comfort and good memories. ❤ 'Kirstie', oil on board, 20 x 20"
