Just finished painting my very first lion! I've been wanting to paint a lion for so long that it's become a bit of standing joke with friends and family who frequently ask the question "started that lion yet?" I was inspired by a beautiful image I came across of this young male, called John, who resides at Cincinnati Zoo. He is avidly photographed by the very talented Connie Lemperle, who kindly gave me her permission to base the painting on one of her images. Oil on board, 20 x 20"
