Kimmeridge Low Tide (Watercolour approx 10" x 8")
A lovely part of Dorset, this is Kimmeridge at my favourite time, when the tide is out. I painted this from a photo that I took when my wife and I drove over to the Purbecks one day. There's always a lot to see, as it is a popular spot for divers, fishermen, swimmers and families with children, plus nets, looking in the rock pools, ever hopeful to catch a tiddler or a crab. I used a limited palette of blues, earth colours, and permanent rose for the painting. As there was a lot of texture, spatter and masking fluid were much in use.
