I would disagree Ruth (nice to see you posting again). Although probably not done to your usual intricate style, it does never the less have a certain rustic charm about it. I like that vibrant orange, what is that? Did you mix it? Looks like W/N warm orange, but I may be wrong.

I love this lose watercolour. I think we are not a camera. So we don't have to show accurate drawing. Atmosphere is the most important. Your blue is really gorgeours, Ruth.

A real spontanaity to this - lovely work.

Lovely 30 minutes of painting Ruth, the colours work well and it is a great painting

I agree with Midori - I love his line 'we are not a camera' he's so right, lots of colour and stmosphere in this 30 minuter!!

And I also agree totally with Midori - the detail will be filled in by the mind; what's important is capturing a feeling and you've certainly done this, Ruth, with the loose style and vibrant, sunny colours.

Nice one, Ruth! I love the loose spontaneous feel to the painting. Super vibrant colours and a lovely composition. Did you enjoy doing it? I found it great fun and quite an eye opener.

I think it's very appealing in its spontaneity, Ruth! A "decent drawing" usually equals tight!

A lovely spontaneous little watercolour Ruth. I have(sort of!) set myself a challenge to give this a go too, but I keep putting it off!

Nothing to add to what has already been said Ruth, it's a super watercolour....love it!

Thank you all for your generous comments. I did enjoy painting it and actually felt no pressure. Still think the large blue plate deserved better treatment though! The orange was a mix of, as far as I can remember, cad red and one of the yellows. I rarely, if ever, use any colour straight from the tube/pan, with the very occasional exception of indigo. It is actually a good way of loosening up, isn't it, and I think some artists do this daily, so might have more goes...in fact I'm sure I will.

Lovely colours and composition - very atmospheric

No drawing needed, this is wonderful as it is Ruth. Beautiful colours.

This is a real eye-catcher, Ruth. I agree with the above comments, although I could never paint without drawing but you really succeeded here. Love it!

A super loose study and complimentary colours, very fresh and spontaneous. Haven't plucked up the courage to have a go at the challange yet, but I will.
