I like your treatment of light here and the crispness of the stone walls and trees.

Thanks, Carole. I've just added a few more gaps to define the texture of the hedges. Does anyone else find that seeing photos of their work helps them to see what's needed?

Very nicely done. I like the textures in the paint and your use of colour in the fields and sky.

Thanks, Spencer. Some of the textures are from an earlier unfinished and primed-over painting. I'm not the first to re-use a canvas.

Nicely done Roger, seeing photos does help to see what is missing sometimes 😉.

Unfortunately I often post before I notice a glaring mistake! Then I always feel the need to draw attention to it…I’m the same with cooking😆. This is very nicely done Roger, with “your” palette.

A lane to walk down. Super.

A lovely painting, beautiful colours .

A very well executed work Roger, and a perfect lead in with the lane!

Excellent painting and beautifully done. I photograph my paintings as I go along it’s so useful for picking up on areas that need more development. I take two photos one at a normal distance the other standing back , the thing is it stops me fiddling with some areas as I see it looks ok.

Thank you all. Alan I read your advice on a previous version last night (about putting some of the pink in the road). Those colours are still there in the pastel, of course, and I'd missed them again. This time, I think the road works better and there's some pink in the hedge. I've adjusted since this photo but I think I've finished now. Marjorie, I know what you mean. I always have to 'fess up to baking imperfections!

It's lovely Roger, I always admire your style and approach

I think that's a well thought out composition, it works very well, and painted in an attractive loose style Roger.

The undulating road takes the viewer through the scene very well. The light on the top of the walls and houses attracts the eye also. It has that ‘I was there’ feel. Overall, a very successful work Roger.

A new 16" x 20" oil on canvas from an almost plein air pastel, 22.2.20. This is a favourite subject. I'll paint the definitive version one day. 22nd February 2020 was a showery day so the pastel is an en voiture work. 😀
