Excellent stuff Robert, yes the texture is very effective, palette knife? Typical abandoned woodland, get lost in there. best Mick

I really like all of them, the textures particularly.

Mick - no, this was brush-work; I let the initial coats dry before adding the final details (heavier with the oil, of course) to see if I couldn't get a rather crusty look with the brush. And this was my least favourite of all of the 10 paintings I did at this scale, although -- it's growing on me... Whether this is a fatherly attachment or a more considered artistic response, I'm not sure! The green I used here - though there was a fair amount of mixing - was pthalo: not a colour I like very much, but - I don't know.... And Gudrun - many thanks.

I can see all the little scrabbly creatures running around in the undergrowth... Getting tangled in brambles and branches. This reminds me of Arthur Rackhams illustrations for Mid summer nights dream. His are watercolour and pen. But this has the same intensity about it.

Glad to see you posting again Robert. I love the textures in this (and the others). Theres a great flowing feel to this, and i don't see a problem with the colours. Really good.

Think this one is my favourite, love the energy you've captured and the light.

My favourite too, I just love the colours and texture.

Very lively and vibrant, Robert. Love the brushwork.

Hi Robert Ros here thanks for one of your lovely rambling comments on my dog Rosie pastel portrait, something about only one gin and tonic!!

Well, you may as well have the last of these 7" by 5"s - gets 'em out of the way! This one is another small-scale experiment - what Mick Saunders would call a bit of fun .... texture was the point in this one, and colours I don't normally use (and I'm not so sure I would again...).
