Beautiful painting, can feel the wind in my hair just looking at it.

Many thanks, Carole. I got a bit wet that day.... This is the first time I've posted pictures on the painters-online site, and I made a bit of a mess of it, so I'm particularly pleased to have a comment back so quickly (especially a positive one).

Smashing work - this definitely works for me I feel the bleakness of the landscape. Love the sky.

I really like this.. feel like I've been there before... I like the detail and how the colors work.

Thanks all, this encouragement is very helpful to me: it can be a lonely business, painting on your own; and important to know that what I'm trying to say is getting through.

Browsing through the portfolios came across this picture. Loved it. The colours are atmospheric and you have captured the feel of the place which I so much admire.

I like this,it reminds me of bodmin moor, nice moody sky.

Just had a browse through your paintings, the mood you create is fantastic, they are all excellent .Thank you for your comments on my work, it is appreceaited.

Finally managed to log on to comment on your gallery. Having awful trouble. thank you so much for yoru comment on Jumble of Autumn. It was posted before but got pushed off within two minutes as I guess it will be today too. I've only seen one or two of your paintings too, probably the same reason. I love this one; it is so strong and powerful. I can actually feel the wind and the desolation. A very good gallery. You are right; it's a lonely road we artists tread, especially if there are no art groups in reach which is why I love this site.

Wonderful flow, movement and texture. Rich moody sky. Your work is a delight and an inspiration.

Thanks for your comments on The Crescent, West Kirby - yes it did take loads of time but as that was mostly spent sitting in a wine bar it wasn't too arduous! I've got to say between the wine, coffee and the dots i probably nodded off a couple of times. I've just been browsing through your gallery . Shed loads of lovely work. Your gallery is so neat compared to mine. From the comment you made i assume that this picture has been sold. Congratulations

Robert, you made some very kind comments on my work as a beginner. Having looked at your work - I know what I must aspire to! Stunning pictures, and such an eye for the important small details. Brilliant.

Great composition, marks and colour, most atmospheric

Love the mood and atmosphere this creates! Hope you post more and thanks for your comments on my work too!

P.S. Is this you? http://www.firstlightgallery.co.uk/robertjones_painting24.htm

No, I think that's the Robert Jones who makes money out of his painting to a far greater extent than I do! This is the trouble with having a common name .. I normally use Robert Phillip Jones these days, and can be found on www.isleofwightlandscapes.net.

This painting has a great windblown feel to it! I like the sense of depth that you have achieved in the sky.

I really love this painting, Robert. So much details in the foreground, and the tourmented sky is so well done!

Hi Robert, Had a bit of a panic a couple of weeks ago. had an hour to spare and sat down to browse through your site and you had disappeared. Popped into the POL today and was about to write to them to find what had happened and Bob's your uncle (Sorry about that) there you were. So have spent a happy hour looking at an eclectic mix of very good paintings. Love the strong sense of place and atmosphere you achieve. You certainly love your Isle of Wight and it shows. About 150 years ago, or so it seems, I used to spend Easter on the IOW for the Cycling Festival and race in the small circuit massed start races on a Sunday (?) morning. Even made it one year into the BIg 'UN Round the Island Road race. Boy was I proud. Boy, was I knackered at the end of it. The beauty was having plenty of time to explore the Island in between events and fall in thrall of its nooks and crannies. It can be beautiful but also threatening when the wind turns and the clouds roll in. You capture the lot. Well Done. I'm still struggling on but getting there. Must put something else up and freshen the blog but where does the time go? Don't know what you're on but it's working well. Keep it up.

lovely movement - wonderfully emotive - like all your work. Many thanks for kind comment on my painiting.

An inspiring picture. Wild and dramatic.

Good composition, I love it ! Have been there last year. It was windy like on your painting.

Great piece Robert. Love that windswept atmosphere you created. Sky is powerful and well captured.

This is great! I love how that bush is hunched right over. Gael force winds!

Robert, you definitely captured the cold windswept feel in this painting. Love your sky and the birds in the air, a very natural setting. The leaning grass and bushes give on the feeling of the wind.

Hi Robert the freshwater pastel was near fort Victoria. I had to check it out. Apology for not answering sooner. It’s fascinating to me when trees meet the seashore.
