Has a lovely atmosphere to it Robert

He’s a big rat! Like the palette.

He IS a big rat, Marjorie, yes..... a lot TOO big, as of course you'll have realized. But he's by way of being my signature, so proportion will suffer a touch.... I did have a really big rat- well, too; one was The Great Ralph (TM) All Rights Reserved - I loved that critter! - and the other was Barry; all black - as sinister, despite his size, as a kitten. Perhaps I was thinking of him! Thanks both, for comments.

"Two", obviously - this is getting to be a problem in my old age: getting words wrong, missing out letters, putting 'em in where not wanted.... It's a miracle I didn't call you Margarine instead of Marjorie, Marjorie......

A great landscape Robert and I could spot the rat.

The palette in this piece is just so good… a very good impression indeed!

two very good Whale chine paintings. Glade you did not venture down there again as we need more paintings from you in the future...

Nice work Robert.

Love the colours in this Robert. And of course the rat though I did wonder if he’d sprouted wings at first glance

Gorgeous soft colours Robert.

Oil, 8" by 10", the chine from the seaward direction. Full confession time: I did not go down there again - it's very unsafe, so I worked from a sketch I made in carbon pencil X number of years ago, with the help of a photo or two to check the present rate of erosion. It's a sketch really, using Flake White, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine. And yes, there is a rat (as there is in Whale Chine 1, but you'll have to look hard.
