Lovely colours Robert, and a lovely painting, the lively waves set it off really well as does the sky

Very atmospheric, I can nearly feel the sea spray Robert :)

Oh love this Robert,

I love the sky and the waves and the spray from them Robert! I think it's finished now but perhaps you don't. I can see three faces there and of course can't stop staring at them now. It only needs three or four tiny strokes of brush to take them of.

Satu - Can't see 'em, though..... Where are these faces of which you speak....? I've looked at the "real thing", assiduously .... trouble is that you never can see them when you've done them yourself, but they always leap out at you from other people's paintings. Go on, gissa clue....

In the middle there is a man's profile with green hair and two faces lurk from water side by side with seaweed as hair. Got them now???

Well blow me down - so there is.... I can see one of them, anyway; the man's profile with green hair.... I'm still working on the other two... can't yet make them out (I have trouble with these puzzle pictures: you know the ones, where most people can see a vase, or two faces in profile - I can usually see either one or the other, but not both: there's probably a name for it!). It would take very little, as you say, to change the profile issue - will I or won't I? Dunno yet.... perhaps I should wait to see if I can finally recognize the other two, or I might make it more obvious rather than less. I've done this before - I saw it myself that time: a truly evil face appeared in a patch of turf - frightened the be-jesus out of me ... it went, rapidly. Er, these aren't evil, are they? Only if they are, I shall begin to wonder quite what I'm channelling ......

Excellent stuff Robert, All this glazing and opaque stuff, too complicated for me. Any way, gorrem, all three. best Mick

Had anuver look, all four! Some merge into each other, they are all around the same place, a couple like blowing water sprites, a couple cowled and sinister. best Mick

I'm not even looking for them - don't usually like the cliché birds but they serve a real purpose in this one - they are understated and make a valuable contribution to the composition - oh yes there's one lying down picking his nose.

Two of you - I name no names, but you know who you are - are taking the Mick or Michael.....

Nah , I only see three... Unless you are talking about the mermaid middle to top right ?

Stoppit, stoppit....... I'm seeing faces everywhere........

They are not evil at all Robert and if you can't see them, even better!

I can only see one large face and he is looking out to sea .... Lovely painting nonetheless.

Well, so long as they're not evil....... I see faces in trees, bushes, clouds; I don't deliberately try to paint them but, if they appear, it must be the result of nature; and if it is who am I - a mere mortal (though beautifully marked, of course..) - to interfere?

Feel a bit sorry for the little sheep at water's edge fallen over, he is about to drown, oh no!!! Sorry Robert, I being very silly. Turned out so well, love your colours in sky and sea they harmonize very well. I do like to see a painting progressing, well done.

Hi Robert thanks so much for your lovely comment on my latest dog pastel portrait Phoebe the very smiley faced dog, so pleased you think it is my best yet, it is great that so many people love this one, it was not a forgone conclusion it was even going to work, when I started it the eyes so bright and full of joy were the first stumbling block getting them to the standard they are at now, then the mouth of course, and when that mouth came out well I knew I had it, and I am as pleased as everyone else with the result, so thanks again Robert, and bye for now

Posting this before I work it to death, if I haven't already. The work in progress can be seen on www.wightpaint.blogspot.com (or will be, when I've posted the remaining two stages). A mix of glazing and opaque paint - had to make numerous adjustments, largely because I wasn't working on the spot. 30 by 40cm.
